out of Comox.
Live the days of the last century onboard this 105-year-old, Danish-built tall
ship. Lend a hand to haul and set sail, steer the ship through the waters of
Baynes Sound, and feel her heel to the breezes. Or, lounge on her sun-bleached
wooden decks as she coasts along Vancouver Island shoreline.
On the day trip, we will drop anchor in a beautiful secluded bay at Sandy Island
and take a boat tender to shore for a relaxing stroll on the sandy beach, or a
hike through the inland trails. Another possibility is beachcombing on the wild
side of the island in search of treasures washed ashore from the winter gales.
Duration: Day Sail: approximately 6 - 7 hours, including a stop over
at Sandy Island Marine Park. Half-Day Sail: approximately 3 - 4 hours

Depart Comox harbour 9:00 AM for an exciting three-hour sail to Mitlenatch
Island Nature Preserve, in the middle of Georgia Strait.
his small island, the largest
seabird nesting colony in the middle of the Gulf of Georgia is known as "The
Galapagos of the North" because of its bounty of marine and bird life.
Cormorants, harlequin ducks, anklets, oyster catchers, marbled murrets are
frequently abundant , as well as sea lions, harbour seals, killer whales.
Ashore, you can quietly view from behind a bird blind the seagulls nesting only
a few feet away. A parks warden stationed here can answer your questions about
wildlife and the vegetation on the island.

Hauling up the anchor at Mitlenatch we then set sail to Lund, a small quaint
harbour on the British Columbian mainland. This picturesque village with its
little cafes and curio shops invites exploring. As well as being a provisioning
stop for boats going north to Desolation Sound, Lund is also at the beginning of
Highway 101 that meanders south on the Sunshine Coast back to Vancouver, British
Columbia.
Next morning departure from Lund gets the Providence to Savary Island with its miles of white sandy beach
that gives it the name of "Hawaii of the North".. This is a great spot to go
ashore for a long stroll, with a picnic lunch and lots of drinking water as it
gets quite hot in the summertime. The ocean here is warm enough for a swim.
After everyone has had enough exploring for one day, we will haul the anchor
aboard and sail for Comox, arriving back around 5 pm. Guests are encouraged to
lend a hand with sailing the ship.

Three-Day Two Nights Adventure Voyage
Comox to Mittlenatch and Cortez Islands, and Lund, British
Columbia
Depart
Comox 9 am for exploring famous Mittlenatch Island,
the "Galapagos of the North". After marveling the abundant bird and animal life
at Mittlenatch we sail for Gorge Harbour on Cortes Island, the northern-most of
the Canadian Gulf Islands. Gorge Harbour is known for its First Nation people's
pictographs adorning the rocks in the narrow entrance to this harbour. There is
a marina restaurant there which offers up extraordinary meals if one chooses to
dine ashore. If time permits, a 1 ˝-mile
walk to the small harbour of Whaletown on the west side of Cortes Island takes
you through past history of abandoned apple orchards and old log buildings. We
spend the night aboard at Gorge Harbour. Next morning we begin our exploration
of Desolation Sound with its numerous inlets, channels and anchorages where one
can hike to crystal-clear lakes, or peacefully walk the isolated shorelines.

back to Comox, we have a quick visit to Lund, a picturesque small harbour of
shops and cafes that invite exploring. As well as being a provisioning stop for
boats going north to Desolation Sound, Lund is also at the beginning of Highway
101 that meanders south on the Sunshine Coast back to Vancouver, British
Columbia. Note that the itineraries are of course dependent on weather. It is
possible that the planned passage could be reversed. Guests are encouraged to
lend a hand with sailing the ship.
